Good News, Bad News & A Snow Day

What a weekend it was! Let me first start out with the good news- which is twofold... Matthew arrived home from his 3.5 week work up on Friday morning. I picked him up from the base while my parents watched Ally. Almost immediately after we got home, I had to turn around and leave again to go to my mammogram appointment. I had a diagnostic version (to investigate the lump my doctor found on the right side) and an ultrasound for further imaging. The radiologist decided that everything looks good and there is no cause for concern at this time. Yea!!! We celebrated all of this good news with a big family dinner with both of our parents and Ally who was soooo happy to have her Daddy home. She's been chattering away for the past several days- "dadadadadada...dadadadadadadada..."

Now for the not so good news- Matthew was supposed to be home for 10 days before his ship left for the next work up but they decided to depart early this Friday the 6th which means that Matthew will miss out on Ally's 1st birthday (which is Sunday 3/8.) To add insult to injury he has duty the night before and has to spend his last night on the ship. We're all really disappointed, but are trying to make the best of it. We've decided to celebrate Ally's birthday twice! We're having a mini party on Wednesday night where she'll get to open her presents from mommy & daddy and dig into a tasty cupcake! On Saturday we'll go ahead with her regularly scheduled party with a larger gathering of family and a few friends and a bigger cake. What a lucky girl!

Norfolk got smacked by Mother Nature on Sunday night/ Monday with a whopping 1/2 inch of snow (so disappointing!) and a lot of icy roads I got to stay home yesterday because my work shut down. Matthew still had to go in, but at least it was only for a half day. We enjoyed getting to spend a little extra time together and are actually going on a date together tonight since we still have our built in babysitters at home. ;-)

Here's some weekend pictures:

Ally sure does love her furry brothers!

She had a great time licking all the salt off of some tortilla chips!

Daddy was so happy to be home with his gals!

Angus grew tired of playing with his sister- YAWN.....

After a brief break he was happy to play with her again!

Ally enjoyed looking out at the snow yesterday- we took a few more pictures outside but they're on my Dad's camera- I'll try to get them posted tomorrow.
As always- thanks for checking in with us!
Wendy
