Introducing Baby Martin #2

I had my first OB appointment yesterday afternoon and was very relieved to find out that there was only one baby in there. I feel like I've grown really quickly for being only 11 weeks and have already put on like 6 pounds (insert big gasp here!) Baby measured right on target for 11.5 weeks and the doctor left my due date at 1/9/10. I really liked my doctor, who came highly recommended by my friend Bonnie, and was pleased to hear that she thinks I'm a candidate for a TOLAC.... what the heck is that you ask? It's a new term I just learned yesterday and it stands for Trial Of Labor After Cesarean... meaning they'll let me try to have a vaginal birth even though I had a C-section the first time with Allison. Once you have successfully birthed the baby the old fashion way it is referred to as a VBAC or a Vaginal Birth After Cesarean.

I won't go back again until 8/3 at which point I'll be a little over 17 weeks. At that appointment I'll get to schedule my second ultrasound during which we will be able to find out the sex of the baby. At first Matthew and I were in disagreement over this point... I want to find out (what a shock given that I'm just slightly Type A) and Matthew didn't. He recently came round to may way of thinking though and now he is just as anxious as I am to find out. It's still a surprise, it just comes 20 weeks earlier!

And now, without further ado... here is Baby Martin #2! (the black line at the top of the pictures is me blacking out Matthew's social security number, which the Navy insists on using for all identification purposes. Thought he'd appreciate it if I didn't publish that for anyone to see. You're welcome honey!)
